Here are some highlights from last Wednesday's meeting: - Tom S. will coordinate food for the month of October. He will be sending out emails ahead of the meetings to RSVP so he knows how much food to get. It's very important to respond, please be looking for them.
- In preparation for our 100th celebration, please look for any photos or videos of Rotary you have. We'd like to create a digital copy and include them in a slideshow or short film for our celebration.
- We are also looking for members for a 100th year celebration committee. Please let Tom P. know if you're interested in joining the committee.
- The tentative date for our celebration is April 2nd.
- Lincoln South is hosting a wine tasting on October 8th. The tickets will be $30 a person and it'll be used as a fundraiser for local events for their club. Please reach out to the Lincoln South club if you're interested.
- For the Grocery Grab, all sponsors need to have their tickets in before Oct. 3rd. If you contacted a sponsor initially, please contact them again to retrieve their tickets this week.
For the program, we focused on membership. Tom S. prepared a document with a list of some individuals and business types where we can reach out to some individuals. The members in attendance brainstormed many individuals to invite to upcoming meetings. Please be thinking of more individuals to invite to get them to see what Rotary is all about! Last (but not least!) we inducted Cheryl Schnell into our club as a new member! Her and her husband will be leaving soon for Hawai'i, then Arizona for the winter so we decided to induct her now! She is from Colorado, but was born in Lincoln. Her family moved around with the military, but settled in the Denton area her junior year of high school. She went to college in Colorado and that's where she stayed. She worked for 22 years for the El Paso county (in Colorado, not Texas :)) Department of Human Services as the Adult and Family Services Director. She met her husband in high school, but lost touch when living in Colorado. They reunited, he moved to Colorado, but they made a deal when they retire, they'll move back to Crete. They're both newly retired, and have come back! They've been married for 19 years, and between the two of them have four children and five grandchildren! Welcome, Cheryl!!
