District Conference summary
District Governor Rod Bates pulled out all the stops for this year's District Conference. Friday
night (July 31) we heard Vietnam Veterans and U.S. Senators Bob Kerrey (Medal Of Honor) and Chuck
Hagel (x2 Purple Hearts) talk about what 'Service above Self' and exceptionalizm are all about.
They were both very optimistic about the future of our Country, and our wealth of giving and
caring 'unsung heros,' such as Rotarians in the U.S. and around the World.
R.I. Vice President Jennifer Jones, CEO of PBS Paula Kerger, documentary filmmaker Beth
Murphy, Humanitarian and CNN Top 10 Heros Razia Jan, and U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon Dr. Bill
McDade were just a few of the AMAZING lineup of speakers that blew our socks off this past
weekend! WOW!!!

Meeting Notes - August 3, 2016

Rotary at NOON this week!
Thursday, August 11 at Union Bank Meeting Room

The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
(fill in the blank)
1.  Is it the TRUTH?
2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3.  Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4.

Noon meeting:  Thursday, August 11, Union Bank; meet Dr. Michael Waters, Supt. of Schools.  A sack lunch will be provided for a small fee!

For sale to Rotarians:  A cute small roll-top desk that Ann Howard is donating to Rotary.  We are asking $250.00 for the desk.  It is on display at Tom Sorensen’s office.  Next week we will open it up to non-Rotarians.  First come, First buys.

Drawing:    Cody Vance won $8 in the draw, donated $8 to dictionaries.  But Cody missed out on a chance to win $100.00!  You may be the winner this week!

Thank you to Tom P. and crew (Craig, Jill & Bob) for cleaning up and tree removal at the Youth Cabin.  Tom is contacting Lincoln Custom Masonry about getting started on our Grant Project.  We should be starting soon.
