At The Brew House – 5:30 pm

Our Program:  Kyle McGowan – “The state of NE schools in 2017”

Drawing:  This week our Pot starts at $243.00.  Mary Garrison donated $20.00 to dictionaries.  We are down to 21 cards in the deck.  This week, maybe!

Dues are due!  Remember that our semi-annual dues are due.  We have to send them into Rotary International by January 31.  Pay to Jim Johnson as soon as possible.  Thanks.

Rotary Foundation:  We collect for the Foundation’s Annual Fund and Polio Eradication.  Our donations are for the Rotary year (July, 2016 – June, 2017).  So for this year, we have had about $900 in donations.  Our goal for the year is $3,375.00.  The Foundation will be informing you of the activities of the Foundation in the upcoming weeks.  Please consider a donation.

Last Tuesday Geoff Easton gave the program on the house that his great-great grandfather had built in 1900.  The house had been neglected for years.  Geoff and his father bought the house and engineered the restoration.  The house was completed in 2012 and on the last day of construction Geoff’s grandmother died in the house in Geoff’s arms.  It is now a beautiful home in which a relative of Geoff’s lives.

Geoff passed around several pictures of the construction process and some interesting items he recovered.  He also had items from the family history.  There are several instances of strange and supernatural events that occurred in this house.  Stones that had fallen from the foundation fit back in the exact order that they were picked up.  Crosses from the walls found in the room that traveling preachers stayed in.  A stone with the likeness of Geoff’s grandfather was found.  The feeling of the presence of a relative who had passed away was felt in the house.  Very Interesting!

Remember:  Rotary is a participation activity, not a spectator sport.

Judy Harms is helping with the drawing.  If she can’t be there, I would like someone to volunteer to take her place.  Thanks, Judy.

Jack Thompson and I are going to get together with Alec to hopefully learn how to publish the Boomerang.  If anyone else is interested, let me know.
