Stories
Boomerang for August 27th, 2025
Last week, we heard from Stephanie Roth, a Health Coach at the Crete Area Medical Center.  She started at CAMC 29 years ago in 1996 in the Radiology department, but in 2017 felt a call to want to do something more.  She was working in a very technical field, but she was a creative and a writer so she felt she needed a change.  In 2017 she searched the internet about being a Health Coach and quickly determined it checked every box for her in regards of using all of her skills and talents.  The process to get started all happened within a 3 week timeframe, everything fell into place, so it solidified she was on the right path.

Her 90-day program consists of an intake session where medical tests and vitals are taken to measure progress, several assessments, and 13, 45-minute, in-person accountability sessions to go through the week prior.  It focuses on "setting weekly goals, overcoming challenges, celebrating success, and sharing lots of new perspectives and information."  You'll learn how to "lose weight without deprivation, discover the healing power of nutritious food, increase energy and decrease stress, find the joy in exercise, improve your sleep, clear the clutter from your life, and avoid self-sabotage and limiting beliefs."  Full disclosure, the program is $300, but it includes all of the lab work, assessments, and meetings for the 90 days.  If it sounds like something you'd like to participate in, please reach out to Steph at (402) 826-7915 or steph.roth@bryanhealth.org.

Here are a few things to keep on your radar:
  • Grocery Grab is scheduled for November 8th at 7:45am at Crete Foodmart.  The drawing will be on October 29th--usually meeting at 9th Street in the morning.  We will be selling tickets in front of Foodmart on the Saturdays in October.  Sponsors need to be finalized by Sept. 5th to be included on the back of the tickets.  If you've asked a business in years past, please reach out to them again and tell Jim Johnson if they can commit by Friday!
  • Our club has a RYLA applicant!  Her name is Abby Murphy and she applied to be sponsored by our club for RYLA the weekend of Sept. 26-28.  Sponsorship is $350, which, can easily happen with a successful Grocery Grab! :)
  • Dictionaries have arrived!  Chris W. will be reaching out for volunteers the second week in September to deliver to the 3rd graders.  If you'd like to volunteer that week, please let Chris know!
  • Sept. 10th is our District Governor's visit!  There will not be a pot luck that evening, instead he's asking for clubs to donate to Polio.  Please check your calendars and try to attend if possible.
  • We will be helping with the Pumpkin Festival Information booth on Sunday, October 5th.  A sign up sheet will be passed around, please consider helping with one of the shifts as we do get busy with ticket sales--particularly the first few hours.  The chamber is also looking for emcees for the event, so if you're willing to emcee, please reach out to the chamber.
  • October 17-18 is the district conference in Omaha!  Here is a link to the registration, and there's a link to an agenda inside.  https://www.crsadmin.com/EventPortal/Registrations/PublicFill/EventPublicFill.aspx?evtid=9559a322-0b3e-44c4-bf21-fb9ed5b99b35
  • Lastly, if you'd like to be on the Christmas Party planning committee, please let Janelle know so we can start planning!
