Last week, we welcomed Zoe White and Valerie Andelt with Crete Teammates! They shared about the Crete Teammates chapter and a series of videos from a former mentee, Amy who graduated in 2019. The Teammates program is in its 30th year this year, and the Crete chapter was founded in 1999. Zoe has been a coordinator for 19 years! Throughout the entirety of the program, there have been 450 students who have gone through Crete Teammates, and 290 mentors! The matches and students are matched on interests and personality. This year, there are 12 seniors and 11 of them are with their original mentor. Both the mentors and students go through training, and the mentors must go through an extensive application process and background check. The students must either express an interest in Teammates or be nominated by a parent or staff member. They are always looking for mentors, so if you're interested, please reach out to either Zoe or Valerie to get your questions answered, or get started mentoring. In addition, this morning was the Grocery Grab! Kevin Faltin was the grand prize winner, and he grabbed $575.50 worth of groceries to be donated to the Crete Public Schools special programs! He reached out to the coordinator beforehand to determine a list of greatest need and tried his best to grab those items during his 5 minutes. Regardless, however, all of the groceries will be incredibly well received and will be enjoyed by many families in the Crete community. Thank you, Kevin, for your generosity and thoughtfulness for the Crete community.
