Last week we heard from Fred Hausman about Clifton Strengths finders. Fred is a Senior at UNL majoring in Business Administration with a Broadcast Journalism Minor, and is a certified Clifton Strengths Coach. The Clifton Strengths assessment was created by Don Clifton--a UNL Psychology professor in the 1960's who wanted to focus on "what was right with people, rather than what was wrong." He created CliftonStrengths in 1999. The purpose is to develop human potential, focuses on a person's innate abilities, and seeks to develop and grow by improving strengths rather than weaknesses. The assessment has 34 traits broken down into 4 areas, and the test will give you your top 5 strengths. The coach then walks you through each one of them to see how they show up in your life, and shares ways to enhance them. It's a great way for organizations (like Rotary) to look at each member's strength so each one can be used to the best of their ability within the club. Thank you, Fred, for sharing this assessment with us, and ways we can be even greater. An update on the park is that we are very close to having the project fully funded! It's recommended we wait until Spring to share final cost/totals because the concrete price could fluctuate a little between now and then. Please stay tuned for more updates as they come! The Rotary Christmas Party will be on December 18th from 5:30-8:30 at the Crete Carrier Community Room. Please save the date! More details to come! The next meeting will be on November 19th (this coming Wednesday). Jack will share about the Foundation. There will not be a lunch that day in lieu of a meeting.
