It was a fantastic surprise when at this past Wednesday's "Giving Tree Gala" event at the 1206 in Crete, our Rotary Club was honored by the Crete Youth Cabin Association for our commitment to serve our local, and global, neighbors. We were the recipient of the "Silver Oak" award and received a beautifully engraved plaque. Gatsby Solheim, along with being a Rotary member, also serves on the Youth Cabin Board and did a masterful job of emceeing the event. Another club member, Shay Smith, was awarded the "Trail Blazer" plaque, primarily for her tireless leadership of the Blue River Arts Council and the ongoing renovation of the Isis Theater in Crete. Congratulations Shay! Many thanks go to the Youth Cabin Association for recognizing our club, and to the current and past members of the club who have donated so much time and resources to our club's good works! We will meet this Wednesday at Doane in the boardroom of the Perry Camus Center at the usual time. If you wish to eat at the meeting, you should arrive a few minutes early and go through the cafeteria line. Our presenter is Jason Tuller. He is a UNL Extension Educator specializing in rural community prosperity. See you there!
