Last week:  Rotary members Jill McCartney and Cody Vance hosted the Tuesday noon meeting in the Hall of Fame Room at Haddix Center on the Doane Campus. They also provided the program which included introduction to the new and very impressive “black” gym floor. They told us about the genesis of the idea for the unique court design and how well it fit into the architecture of Haddix itself. Cody also gave us a guided tour of other parts of the facility including the fitness center (public memberships are available for a very reasonable cost) and the remodel of the men’s basketball team locker. 10 members attended and enjoyed a Pizza Hut lunch. Thanks Jill and Cody!

Fun Fact:  While it doesn’t have an official state food, Nebraska does have an official state soft drink: Kool-Aid. Originally called “Fruit Smack,” Kool-Aid was invented by a man named Edwin Perkins who ran a small mail-order business out of Hastings, Nebraska. Though the Fruit Smack concentrate syrup was one of his most popular products, the glass bottles often broke in transit. Perkins invented a powder concentrate in 1927 to solve the problem, and Kool-Aid was born.

This week’s drawing starts at $116.00!  Queen of Spades was on vacation last week and a drawing was not held.
