The Grocery Grab winner is a winner! Nancy “The Shopper” Pohl raced through the aisles of Walmart and after 5 minutes had an overflowing grocery cart. When the cash register finally finished, she had rung up a total of $1024.62.
Nancy’s husband and daughter, as well as 14 Rotarians, were there to root Nancy on. We also drew $2000 in gift cards for consolation winners. Five $100 cards, ten $50 cards and forty $25 cards were drawn. That makes 56 winners in the Grocery Grab Fundraiser.
Last week we welcomed Brad Horky, Foster Care Recruiter for Better Living Counseling Services. He spoke to us about the need for both full- and part-time foster families. The part-time would cover both respite providers needed for only a couple of days, and emergency providers to house children in emergency situations for up to 10 days. Families would need to attend a 10 week training class to become certified. Trainers come to the communities needed and require a total of 30 hours commitment. A family care specialist comes once a week to ensure the match for the children and family continues to be successful.
They have children ranging from infants to 19 years of age needing foster families. In some circumstances, the families can be reunited, but they also have children who are adoptable should the family choose to do so. If you're interested in becoming a foster care family or would like more information, you can email Brad at:
