Crete Rotary Club
Crete, Nebraska
Last Week-  14 members attended our Wednesday evening meeting and we had two guest, David and Gatsby Solheim. They are new to Crete, both are attorneys and are opening a law office on Main Street. David has been a Rotary member in Iowa and is considering transferring his membership to our club. Gatsby is also giving thought to joining. Karen won the drawing and donated $10 to our dictionary fund. The accumulated pot survived another week. Bob Gunther was recognized for having achieved Paul Harris Fellow +3 level of Foundation giving. Mary Garrison presented Bob with a special pin.
Joe Roberts from the Lincoln South club came to speak to us about an opportunity for our district to give to the Rotary Foundation's Endowment Fund.  The Endowment Fund gives to grants years into the future.  The annual fund gives to short-term projects, but the Endowment Fund would ensure the projects 20-30 years down the road would have adequate funding.  These donations would be in addition to the funds Rotarians are asked to donate to secure funding for future projects.

The district is looking to raise 1,000,000 dollars district-wide through donations of 10,000 or more.  They can be with cash, life insurance, stocks, or other securities or through donations bequeathed to this fund by placing it permanently in a will, beneficiary/death benefit, or trust document.  They have raised a little over 1/3 of the funds and have a goal of April 2018 to raise the rest.

If you are interested in making a donation to the Endowment Fund, please contact Joe Roberts at the Lincoln South Club, or Brian Moon who is the District Foundation Chair. (Story and photo courtesy of Janelle)

This Week- We will meet at TBH for a Tuesday noon meeting. We will discuss finishing up the Grocery Grab event and progress on the Community Garden Arbor Project. Louis Sotelo, Chief Diversity Officer at Doane will be our speaker. Please plan to attend!
