Last week we heard from Senator Danielle Conrad. She shared her history about how politics became a passion for her at an early age, and how she's continued that throughout her service in the Nebraska State Legislature. She was invited by current LD32 candidate (and Crete Rotary member), Shay Smith. Senator Conrad shared what she believes it takes to be a strong candidate in Nebraska's legislature: smart, open-minded, hard-working, working across the aisle, mix of professional backgrounds in the Legislature, and taking feelings and emotions out of decisions to make the best decisions for the citizens of Nebraska. Danielle's passion for making life better for Nebraskans was evident in her time with us, and we want to thank her for sharing during our meeting. Taken from her website, here are Shay's priorities are: - Taking action on high taxes
- Protecting our Constitutional rights
- Lowering the cost of living
- Cutting healthcare costs
- Investing in education and opportunity
- Saving Nebraska land for Nebraskans
This week is our highway clean up, please meet at CAMC at 5pm. There is a small group meeting at 4:30pm if you'd like to meet with them and get a head start. The next meeting will be May 13th where we will hear from Marci to tell us about Crete's Academies. May 27th will be a presentation from Alyssa Capek--a high school student who has qualified for State Speech! We will also try to get our scholarship recipients to attend to meet them.
