Club Assembly: We worked in our committees to address recommendations received through our club surveys.
Notes from committees:
The Fundraising Committee is promoting the Grocery Grab with an article in The Crete News. They are also looking into an additional event possibly in the summer. They are asking for ideas!
The Membership Committee will be evaluating our new noon/5:30 meeting times. They are also looking at name tags or place cards to identify members. They want to get everyone’s photo on our club’s webpage in the member only section. Geoff will work on an orientation for new mentors. They suggest adding new members especially with our noon/evening split meeting times.
The Program Committee wants to allow attendance credit for committee and District work. Please report these times to Jim F.
The Foundation Committee will have a program on the Rotary Foundation next week Nov. 16. They also want to stress giving to the foundation “Every Rotarian, Every Year” and to Polio Eradication.
The Social Media/Public Relations Committees would like members to send them pictures of our events to post on facebook or sent to The Crete News. They want members to like/share our facebook page. They want to work on a Crete Rotary Brochure for recruitment and promoting our club.
The Service Committee wants to evaluate our community service projects to see if any have run their course. The Youth Committee will be working on RYLA and scholarships after the first of the year. The Social Committee is planning the Christmas Party and needs input on other social events.
Grocery Grab is off and running. If you haven’t picked up tickets yet, see Jim Fahrnbruch. We are signing up to sell at Walmart on Saturday mornings. We have three shifts (9 – 10 am), (10 – 11 am) and (11 – noon). The Saturdays are Nov.12 and Nov. 19. Let Jim F. know what shift(s) you would like.
This week a new member will join our club. Rev. Ron Benson of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be inducted. Welcome Ron!
This week our program will be the Doane Men’s and Women’s basketball coaches. They will give us a preview of the upcoming seasons.
The Brew House will be our new permanent meeting place. The club will continue to meet at different times throughout the month. On the first and third weeks in the month, we will meet on Wednesday evenings at 5:30. (If there are five weeks in a month, it will also be on Wednesday evening). On the second and fourth weeks, we will meet Tuesdays at noon. Some months will vary from this schedule for special meetings or work projects. So keep up with your emails!
Tom Sorenson won the drawing for the 2nd week in a row. He got $11 in the draw and donated it for dictionaries. He donated the second portion ($11) to Rotary Foundation. He couldn’t find the Queen of Spades. The pot will start at $179 this week.
