Scholarship:  $1,273.59
Grants:  $10.39

Drawing:
Tom Parker won the drawing and designated the contribution portion for PolioPlus.  Alas, he did not win the accumulated pot.

Picnic Table Project:
We are DONE!  Thank you to all Rotarians who helped with the project, especially Tom Parker who managed the project and did much of the work.  Also, special thanks to Craig Snyder and Geoff Easton who weren’t Santa’s elves but helped assemble and deliver the tables.  Craig also used his bobcat to help remove the old tables at the Youth Cabin.

Look for an article in this week’s edition of The Crete News.

Grocery Grab:
There are only two weeks until the drawing!!  We need to be selling them at every opportunity.

NOTE:  Chris cannot take money for the tickets at her office.  Please plan to bring money to a Wednesday meeting or deliver it to Jim Johnson, Jim Fahrnbruch, or John Lothrop.  Ticket stubs may be turned in with the money or to Chris.

Christmas Party:
Our annual Christmas party will be the evening of Wednesday, December 16 in the Campus Center at Doane.  Details will be announced later.

Program:
The speaker was polio survivor Dave Rockenbach.  Dave contracted polio in 1949 when he was 3 ½ years old and it affected the lower half of his left leg.  Dave went through numerous surgical procedures, some of which were intended to stunt the growth of his right leg to minimize the difference in the length of the two legs.  This allowed Dave to avoid wearing shoes with a built up sole.  He had to wear a brace on his left leg and use crutches when he was young.  As an adult, Dave was able to walk quite well and the disease had minimal impact on him.  Recently he has begun experiencing symptoms of post-polio syndrome (PPS) which affect the neuro and muscular systems.

Foundation Giving Awards:
District Governor Rod Bates attended our meeting to make two special presentations to the Club.  The first was recognition as an Every Rotarian, Every Year Club (EREY) for achieving $100 per capita giving and every member being credited with a personal contribution.  We are one of only 3,112 clubs to be EREY out of 35,114 clubs worldwide or 8.8% of the clubs.  We received a banner for each of the awards.

The Crete Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at 5:30 PM at Doane College in the Board Room of the Perry Campus Center.  Due to numerous service projects, we may not meet some weeks.  Please check the event calendar.
