Meeting Notes - June 15, 2016
Update from the Chamber
Kayleigh Schadwinkel, Executive Director of the Crete Chamber of Commerce,  gave the program on Wednesday, June 15th.  Kayleigh is a recent graduate of Doane University.  She played volleyball and was involved in starting the dance program.  She created interest in dance by planning a variety of events and got many students interested in the program.  Her senior year she interned with the Crete Chamber and was involved in the planning of the successful Pumpkin Festival.  Kayleigh is the youngest Chamber Executive in the state of Nebraska.  If interested, check the chamber website at cretechamber.org,  or email her at cretechamber@gmail.com.

Thank you notes:  We received thank you notes this week from scholarship recipients, Tara Tran and Favian Mendez.  Both will be entering UNL.  Tara this fall, but Favian not until next spring because he will be doing training for the Marines from July 11th to December 12th.
Marilee sent a note thanking us for serving food, carrying trays, and refilling supplies for the CAMC picnic.  She says, “The grand success of the picnic is due to all of the volunteers.  Thank you!”

Member Surveys:  We have 20 of 27 surveys turned in so far.  They haven’t been completely tabulated yet, but one theme that I have heard is to have noon meetings.  Let’s talk about this in the next few weeks.  If you haven’t turned in your survey (or haven’t received one), please do so soon.  I want to hear from everyone.  Check with Jim F. if you need one.

Representative to Boy Scouts:  I haven’t heard from anyone yet about being our link to the Boy Scouts.  We have sponsored the local troop 212 for many years, and we need to have someone for communications with the troop.  Talk to Jim F. for details.

This week in Rotary:  Wednesday, June 22, Andrea Holmes will be our program.  She is a professor of chemistry at Doane and will speak on animal rights.  We will meet in the Trobough room.  We’ve been having 13 – 15 members at meetings; let’s see if we can have a better turnout.

Upcoming events:
June 29th – Club Assembly at Doane, 5:30 pm.
July 6th and 13th – at Doane at 5:30 pm TBD.

The Crete Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at 5:30 PM at Doane College in the Board Room of the Perry Campus Center.  Due to numerous service projects, we may not meet some weeks.  Please check the event calendar.
