Crete Rotary Club
Crete, NE
This week we had Kyle Kimmi--Mill Manager at Bunge come to speak to our club!  He's been working there for about 2.5 years, but has been the mill manager for a little over a year.  He shared some wonderful information about Bunge that all Crete residents should be proud of:
  • They are one of the top 5 grain processing companies in the world
  • They specialize in dry grain in the Crete location and do $425 million in sales revenue
  • Bunge as a corporation has 51% market share in the industry
  • They are the sole supplier of corn for the brand "pop corners"!  They wanted to start getting into non-GMO corn, they brought the idea to some farmers, most told them it wasn't possible, but slowly some started to get on board.  Those farmers took it to a small family that started making the "pop corners" crisps, and now Bunge in Crete is the only corn supplier for that brand!
  • They abide by 4 pillars: Quality and Product Functionality, Sustainability, Innovation and Growth, and End to End Supply Chain Management
  • They supply product for a number of well-known brands including: Frito Lay, Bugles, Cheeetos, Corn Flakes, Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Busch, Budweiser, and charcoal briquets.
As far as what's next, they want to maintain safety in everything they do for the employees, growth for new products and production, and continuous improvement with equipment upgrades.  Thank you, Kyle for sharing some of the exciting things happening at the mill in Crete!

All dictionaries have been delivered.  Thank you for all of the volunteers to help make the 3rd grader's days just a little better!

This Sunday is the Pumpkin Festival!  We will be at the information booth at 12th and Main and are looking for volunteers to help.  If you can help, please email Janelle.  Looking ahead, next weekend we're planting trees at Rotary park.  Please come there from 9am-12pm if you're free.  The BackPack Program is also filling backpacks on Sunday at 5 at the UCC church.  There will be opportunities to sell tickets at Crete Foodmart on October 15, 22, and 29.  Please let Janelle or Jack know if you'd like to sign up to sell.
