Last Week- 15 members attended our noon meeting. Geoff read two letters we received recently from two former scholarship winners in which they caught us up with their scholastic progress and expressed their appreciation to the club for the financial help. Other club topics discussed were volunteer recruitment for the Pumpkin Festival; Upcoming Grocery Grab promotional ideas and a renewed focus on potential new members. Tom P. won the drawing and donated $8 to our Polio fund. The Q. of Spades continues to find her odds favorable to remain with her fellow cards. But for how long?

Our own Judy Harms spoke to us about her and her son Rhett's experience being at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  He hopes to be selected for one of the engineering programs and play football.  Unlike the traditional college schedule, however, he also goes through all of the military training new recruits in the Air Force endure and attends classes.  After four years, he will have a five year commitment to the Air Force.

Throughout Judy's presentation, you could tell she was very proud of her son and loved sharing this experience. If you have questions about what it's like, do not hesitate to ask--She will be happy to talk more about it.  Thanks for telling us about both of your experiences, Judy! This Week- We will NOT have a regular meeting this week since we have several work projects coming up in the next few weeks. Thanks to those who have signed up to help at the Pumpkin Festival this Sunday Oct. 8th from noon to 5pm. And then during the week of Oct 16th we will help, as in the past, with the CAMC Health Fair and our HWY Clean Up is planned for the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 18th. Info and sign up sheets will be forthcoming in the near future. Have a great week!
