At our Wednesday meeting we celebrated our District Governor Barbara Bartle’s visit to our club. Members brought various food dishes for our “pot luck” meal, which was a great success! We had a good turnout for her visit and were graced with the attendance of four member spouses. We also had two guest visitors attend!
The Governor touched on many topics: Rotary Foundation- she instituted a promotion that in the next two weeks, any rotary member in the district can make a minimum $100 donation to the Foundation. And in return they will be added to a drawing for up to 4 Paul Harris Fellowship awards.  Donate to Ukrainian families by December 13

The Governor also talked about the first annual Golden Wheel Award. In this program each club would appoint a club committee to select a local community person who excels in donating their time and talents to their communities. The person selected by the club would then be invited, along with a guest, to attend at the club’s expense our district conference at the end of March. I am hoping we can give this a try and will be talking about it in meetings to come.
Governor Bartle talked about the district’s efforts in support of the Ukrainian refugee’s as they seek shelter in neighboring countries. She went to Warsaw, Poland and helped dispense medical and humanitarian goods donated by our district. She was able to meet with the Rotary Governor of all of Poland!

Next Week: We will hold a regular meeting this coming Wednesday, December 7th. Our speaker will be Chris Shires who is with the company Confluence. This company is currently working with the Crete city administration in updating Crete’s Five Year Comprehensive Plan. He will be looking for club member input on suggestions on how to shape and improve Crete’s future.
We will also discuss the club’s desire to create a fund to help support Brad Elder’s recovery from burns suffered while fighting the area wildfires in October. See you there!
