Grant project decided, pumpkin planting moved to June 3
Please note, the Chamber of Commerce Pumpkin Festival Committee has postponed the pumpkin patch planting to next week, Thursday, June 3, at 5:30 p.m. due to the amount of rain received recently. This was originally scheduled for May 26. The chamber will have all necessary materials for planting pumpkin seeds at Old Mill Park at 3rd and Norman. See you then!
Crete Rotary members met on Tuesday, May 18. Members discussed grant project proposals and decided on a submission which would benefit the Blue River Arts Council's Isis Theatre renovation, set to commence later this year. Shay Smith suggested the club contribute to cleaning and painting the auditorium floor before new seats are placed as part of the theatre's lobby and building renovations.

The total budget for this project would be about $1,500 for cleaning and painting supplies; the club would be responsible for a match of 50 percent, or $750. The project, if approved, would most likely take place over the winter. This is a smaller project than the club has proposed in recent grant years, reflective of this past year in which the main grocery grab fundraiser produced less and leaving the club some breathing room to get ahead with this year's grocery grab.

Thank you to Shay and other members for their input on this year's grant proposal. Jim Johnson and Shay also completed the grant training webinar.
Club members also discussed the incoming club president: Tom Parker has volunteered to lead Crete Rotary for the 2021-2022 year, starting his term in July. Thank you to Tom for stepping into this role. One of the projects will be celebrating Crete Rotary's 100th anniversary in 2022.
