The club welcomed in the new year by welcoming Chris Neukirch as our newest member. Chris is originally from Wisconsin and moved to Nebraska in 2002.  She came to Crete from Pleasant Dale about a year ago and has wanted to get involved in the community.  She's worked at the Nebraska State Patrol for 16 years and is currently the IT manager.  She is married, her husband is a carpenter.  He works on hotels and apartments, but also does side jobs. We are pleased to have her aboard! 

 

The remainder of the meeting was used to discuss several club topics: 

• Jim and Jane F. are to be inducted into the Crete HS Hall of Fame at halftime of the Boys BB game last Friday. Congratulations to both!
• Golden Wheel Nominee--the club as a whole decided Russ Sears would be a great community member to nominate for this year's award.  Jenn Lampila and Janelle Snodgrass are checking on the requirements for attendance at the district conference in March and will discuss next week.  There was discussion that this award evolves into a high school, college, and community member recipient yearly, and we would take one of them to be recognized at the district level.  That will be something to consider next year, however.
• Treasurer's report: Club Treasurer Jim Johnson prepared a current financial statement for the club to review. We are seeking fundraising ideas to add an additional $500-$1000 to help club finances.
• President-Elect Training Seminar (PETS} is March 4th--We are looking for president elect nominees for next year. The club pays the PETS fees for our attendee.
• Jenn Lampila informed the club of a newly created on-line shopping site for Rotary apparel from Heath Sports in Crete. A separate email was sent to all members with the link they will us to visit the site.
• Our next meeting is January 25th at the VFW. Our speaker is Rob Simmon. A separate email was sent to all members with information about this speaker and his bio.
