Stories
Boomerang for February 11, 2026
To begin, our President Elect, Chris Neukirch gave us a little information about Rotary in February!  It was when the first meeting in Rotary was held (February 23rd), and it's Peace and Conflict Resolution month.  Rotarians are encouraged to spend February volunteering.  She challenged each member to volunteer 5 hours in the month of February (or throughout the year even!), asked to have an article in the Newspaper sharing about Rotary, and is bringing a Rotary cake to the next meeting.

This week we heard from member Paul Larsen, about some updates to his business "Crepe Cafe".  You may have seen his food trailer at various events serving delicious crepes in Crete and Lincoln.  He shared that he now has a "brick and mortar" shop in Lincoln!!!  It's at 2700 "S" St, and it's next to an event hall in the building so he also caters!  He's received quite a bit of recognition in the media being in "Strictly Business" magazine in both January and February, he's speaking to a few radio stations last week and this week, and had an article in the Lincoln Journal Star!

He brought an employee, Myrna Adams-Mitchell, who helps bring his recipes to life!  They have sweet and savory crepes including Chicken Bacon Cheese, Veggie, and Breakfast sausage for savory and Banana and Nutella, Strawberries and Cream, Peanut Butter and Banana, and S'mores for sweet.  Thank you to Paul and Myrna for spending time with us sharing updates to the business!

Additionally, Shay paid a visit to Mary Garrison!  She says hello!!

We have some upcoming service projects:
  • February 21st from 7am-1pm Boy Scout Pancake Feed--we need volunteers for all shifts 7-9am, 9-11am, 11am-1pm.  Please email Janelle if you're able to help.
  • February 23rd and 26th Book Fair--all slots are filled!  Thank you all!
  • April 29th--Spring Highway Cleanup
Our club was approached to help serve lunch on February 28th at Tuxedo Park.  It would be from 11-2 (shift from 10:30-2:30).  It's the first year, members have emailed Jack with the chamber but have not heard back.  Members had questions about how much food we should have, or if the vendors are local.

Members do need to vote at the next meeting about renewing our website domain.  The cost is: $30/year for 8 years, $35/year for 5 years, and $40/year for 3 years.  We didn't have a quorum last meeting so hopefully we do next time!
