Last week, we heard from Jane Fahrnbruch about Jim's long history in Rotary! She shared some banners she's received throughout the years from visiting Rotarians, a T-shirt he received from the Rotary Club in Lahaina, Hawaii, and even got the club to sing a few Rotary songs! Some of the history was seeing the evolution of women being welcomed into Rotary, changing where the club has met--it's always been a supper meeting, but pretty much everyone at dinner, and the dress code! When he started Crete Rotary, the expectation is that men wore suits, coats, and ties. Jim's dad was a 50 year member with perfect attendance, and Jane's dad was also a member so it was pretty natural for her to support him throughout the years in his love for Rotary. One of his favorite parts of being in Rotary is working and meeting with like-minded people and working on projects that helped the community. We are so grateful for members like Jim who can share such rich history of not only the organization, but also the club. Thank you for your dedication to Rotary, Jim! Some upcoming events are the Rotary Lunch at Old Main (CCHC in Crete) at noon on 3/19. Our next meeting will be on March 26th. Looking farther ahead, our District Grant this year will be the playground, and virtual seminars will be offered in April and May. The virtual annual meeting will be on May 8th, and the club will need to vote officially on our delegate.
