Sam Franklin, with Shelter Me Nebraska, was our guest speaker last Wednesday evening to share about their network of foster homes helping the pets of victims of domestic violence. Franklin provided information about the nature of domestic violence in that often times an abuser also injures pets in the home and many victims feel unable to escape an abusive situation because they are also unsure of what may happen to their pets if they leave. The pets are also a source of comfort and companionship to abuse victims.
