Rotary Wednesday, Nov.2nd
Club Assembly
5:30 pm at The Brew House

Club Assembly:  We will work in our committees to address recommendations received through our club surveys.  This will be our first Wednesday evening at The Brew House.  If possible be there a little before 5:30 to begin eating.

Grocery Grab is off and running.  If you haven’t picked up tickets yet, see Jim Fahrnbruch.  We are signing up to sell at Walmart on Saturday mornings.  We have three shifts (9 – 10 am), (10 – 11 am) and (11 – noon).  The Saturdays are Oct. 29, Nov.5 and Nov. 12.  Let Jim F. know what shift(s) you would like.

We welcomed Seth Harris, Doane's new tennis coach.  He is originally from Waverly, NE but comes to us most recently from Texas.  There are 10 men and 12 women on the tennis team and he estimates about half of them are from Nebraska.  He has several goals for the tennis team.  They include:
1.  Trying to create a more unified and productive tennis program.  To achieve this, he wants to build more awareness within the community by hosting tennis summer camps and clinics.  Through leadership and working with the teams as a whole, Seth wants to transform the players’ mentality from individuals to a team mindset.

2.  Reconnecting with Panama.  Previously, Doane recruited several Panamanian students to play tennis.  Through the years, that connection has been lost, so he would like to utilize the Panama ties on the Board of Trustees to recruit from there.
His expectations for the year are to achieve two GPAC Championships (both men and women) and have two academic all-american teams.  Feel free to reach out to Seth and welcome him to Crete!

New Business:
We had several guests at the meeting!  Tom Sorenson invited Adam Bauer with Bauer Insurance, and Mike Pavelka brought Justin Kozisek--a coworker from Pinnacle Bank.

The Brew House will be our new permanent meeting place.  The club will meet at different times throughout the month, too.  On the first and third weeks in the month, we will meet on Wednesday evenings at 5:30.  (If there are five weeks in a month, it will also be on Wednesday evening).  On the second and fourth weeks, we will meet Tuesdays at noon.

Tom Sorenson won $10 in the drawing!  He donated $10 to dictionaries and he found the Queen!  ...of Diamonds.  The pot will start at $168 next week.

Crete Rotary is a group of community leaders who gather weekly to exchange ideas and help with the activities of our community.  We recycle aluminum and plastic, help the chamber at the Pumpkin Festival, do projects at the Youth Cabin and many other activities.  We also support Rotary International by contributing to Polio Eradication and other humanitarian programs worldwide.  I’m proud to be part of Crete Rotary.
