HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Crete Rotary Club celebrated the holiday season and the end of 2017 with a very enjoyable Christmas party at TBH on December 20th. We had a total of 42 members and family attend. We all enjoyed a wonderfully prepared dinner and Mrs. Santa (Vicky Johnson) provided gifts for the kids. Jenn Lampila entertained the party with a "Christmas" trivia game emceed by Cody Vance. Julie Schumacher played piano during the event including all the classic carols that were accompanied by the Rotary Kids Choir!

From Your President: I'd like to take a quick moment to thank all club members for their hard work and commitment to our projects and causes over the last 6 months. Its been my pleasure to get to know you guys even better than I did in my previous years as a member. Nothing brings folks together like digging through nasty trash cans for recyclables at 6am at the county fair, or risking frostbite at the Community Garden. Its been especially rewarding to see how well the club rallied around those who have suffered through a very difficult 2017.

We had two members leave the club last year as a result of employer changes/promotions. We wish both Stephanie and Trevor great success and hope they will drop in on a meeting from time to time. We also have been blessed to welcome two new members, David and Gatsby Solheim. They have opened a new law office on Main Street in Crete and David had previously been a Rotarian in Iowa.

We will begin the second half of our Rotary year at our noon meeting At TBH on January 9th. I look forward to seeing a lot of you there. I'd also like to ask for any advice you can give me on better ways to do things going forward. Personally I'm hoping I can do better at getting more members involved in what we do- from programs to projects to meetings, etc. I have never learned the art of delegating! Thanks again!
