Rotary Meeting April 6,2016
April Service Work: April 4 – 8, CAMC Health Screenings club members helped with registration. On Friday, April 15 we will be selling tickets at the Elementary from 5:45 pm – 7:15 pm and 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
April Programs:
April 13 – Doane’s Relay for life Committee
April 20 – Doane’s Dr. Ramesh Laungani will discuss NFS grants
April 27 – Youth Cabin cleanup (corrected time 5:00 pm)
May Programs: Vicky Johnson and Max Kathol
June Programs: Tom Parker and Cody Vance
Drawing: Our speaker, Ian McKeithen, drew his own number. He took home $8.00, donated $7.00 to scholarships but couldn’t find the Queen of Spades. The pot is now at a whopping $29.00.
District Training: Jim Johnson, John Lothrop, Judy Harms, Mary Garrison, Jack Thompson and Jim Fahrnbruch attended District Training at Innovation Campus in Lincoln. These members will report at a May meeting.
Saline County Parade: Jack Thompson reported that we will be helping line up entries for the parade in July.
District Grant: The deadline for applying for District Grants is May 31, 2016. We will discuss this next meeting so be thinking of good projects we could do.
Program:
Ian McKeithen was introduced to the attending members as the guest speaker. Ian is the Head Men's Basketball coach at Doane. Ian spoke to the group about growing up in So. California and venturing to South Dakota to play BB for Dakota State in Madison. Since graduating, Ian has worked for the MN Timberwolves as Assistant to the General Manager, to coaching opportunities at Iowa Wesleyan and Dakota State and Augustana in Sioux Falls. He was Head Men's BB coach at Benedictine in Springfield, IL, until they discontinued athletics after only 3 years. Ian was the Assistant at Doane for the 2015-16 season. Ian is very excited, as well as thankful, for the opportunity at Doane and very interested in becoming involved in the community of Crete. Ian is married and has a 5 yr old son. GO TIGERS!
