Last week the club had a service project to help Russ Sears plant Pumpkin seeds at the Pumpkin Patch. The event was originally scheduled for May 25th. But do to a rare rainstorm, it was postponed to Tuesday, May 30th. It took about an hour and was a little easier task this year because of all of the new topsoil (from Tom Sorensen's pond) which was easy to till and to the fact that there were virtually no mosquitoes or gnats that evening. Thanks to those members who were able to attend! And a special thanks to Jim and Pat Johnson for hosting an impromptu "recovery" social at their home after the work was completed. A couple reminders: Our next meeting is not this coming Wednesday, but the following Wednesday June 14th at the VFW. We will spend most of the meeting time organizing our schedule and committees for the coming year. And I want to again mention that you have until the end of this month to make a contribution to The Rotary Foundation Fund and the Polio Plus Fund. Our goal as a club is to average $100 per member for The Foundation Fund and $40 per member for the Polio Plus Fund. We are still a little shy of our giving goals for both funds. Thank you to those who have contributed, and new contributions can be made to either Julie Lacy or Jim Johnson.
