Last Week- We met for a special "regular" Wednesday evening meeting at TBH as it was our official introduction of Janelle Snodgrass as our President for the new Rotary year which commences July 1st. Before passing the gavel to Janelle we did a quick year-in-review which revealed that we surpassed our goal of 11 service projects (380 hours labor) by completing 16 projects (448 hours labor). And that number does not include our two fundraising events- Grocery Grab and Rotary Night @ TBH. We came very close to meeting our club donation goals for both Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus. A great deal of thanks to everyone's participation and help!

 

Assistant District Governor Clay Ehlers and his wife Juliana were kind enough to join us for this special meeting and Clay made some very nice remarks about our small club and our amount of community service activity.

 

Geoff Easton won the weekly drawing and donated $7 to our Polio fund. He did not draw the queen, so the pot accumulates again.

 

Vicky Johnson notified me that she was terminating her membership in Rotary due to a very heavy workload/time commitment with her County Court Judge's position. She had many kind things to say about the club and members and hopes that if that time commitment should lessen in the future, she would consider re-joining. This Week- We will hold a regular meeting  this Tuesday at noon @ TBH. Kayleigh Schadwinkel with the Crete Chamber will visit with us about this summer's chamber events as well as the Crete Great Pumpkin Festival this fall. I also wanted to issue one more reminder to respond to the survey Janelle emailed to all members last week seeking your choices for committee assignment this coming year. And thank you if you already have responded. If you didn't receive the survey- please let Janelle know!

 

This is my 50th Edition of the Boomerang and my last for a while. I'd like to say thank you to the club for all the support and friendship this past year as your president. I would like to especially thank our officers, Secretary Janelle Snodgrass, Foundation Chair and Past President Jim Fahrnbruch and Treasurer Jim Johnson for their time commitment and efforts to keep us organized and our finances properly recorded and reported. I'm really looking forward to this coming year with Janelle as our new leader. She brings a great deal of enthusiasm and new ideas. I know she will have our full support. Thanks again.
