Boomerang for Sept. 12, 2021
Crete Rotary Club
Crete, NE
Last week we had a number of guests join us for the meeting!  We had Cheryl Schnell, Julie Lacy, John A. Lothrop, and Paul Larsen (who has been attending for several meetings and will be joining soon!)  Warmest of welcomes on behalf of Crete Rotary, and we hope you all join us again!

We will be selling grocery grab tickets on Sept 18th and Sept 25th from 9-10:30 and 10:30 to 12.  Please email Janelle Snodgrass (js031117@gmail.com) if you'd like to sell tickets either of those mornings in front of Crete Foodmart.  In addition, Rotary will be selling tickets at our Pumpkin Festival Information booth.  If you'd like to sign up to help with the information booth on Oct. 3 from 11:30-2:30 or 2:30-5 (the most need right now is on the second shift), please email Janelle.  There will be an updated sign up sheet at the meeting on Sept. 22.

We had the pleasure of having Stephanie Boldt, CEO of Crete Area Medical Center (CAMC) speak to us about the exciting changes at the hospital!  Here are some highlights:
  • New walking trail--was complete but wanted to add one more sidewalk.  It's open to the community and lit at night.  The funds were donated by the Ackley family of Crete.
  • Specialists--CAMC has 25 different specialists that come to the hospital so residents do not have to drive elsewhere to get specialized care.  They have anything from behavioral health, nutrition, cardiologists, just to name a few.
  • Renovation--expected to be completed in June 2022.  Some of the areas under construction are the family practice and labor and delivery unit (larger rooms, adding a suite and 2 postpartum rooms), inpatient area will be converted to operating, surgery, and recovery rooms, and specialty and outpatient area will take over where surgery is now.  Will allow for more care for more patients.
  • New providers--2 new doctors (current total is now 5 and all of them deliver babies, and go to Friend and Wilber).  In the emergency room, there are 2 new providers.
  • COVID--Crete has not seen the impact that Bryan in Lincoln has, but she expects the numbers to increase significantly in the next 3-4 weeks as the rural areas are starting to get hit.  Of course they encourage vaccinations, good hygiene, and staying home if you're sick.  The booster shot is not available yet, but it's expected to be available by Mid-October.
