Crete Rotary Club!
Crete, Nebraska

At our meeting last Wednesday, we were pleased to have two of our four scholarship recipients, Litzy Lima and Marli Stones, along with their parents, join us for pizza and to tell us a little about their post-secondary education plans. Karen Drevo, one of our Scholarship Committee members, introduced our two recipients in attendance. She also read short thank you notes from the other two recipients who were not able to attend.

For our presenter, we had Kelly Mans, who is a Senior Living Advisor with Tabitha, speak to us about what’s new with Tabitha!  Some highlights are that they provide a full range of senior care: from in-patient, out-patient, memory, short- and long-term care, and hospice just to name a few.  They also provide the only Meals on Wheels service in Lincoln providing about 500 meals daily to others.

Specifically in Crete, they have the Residences (Douglas house and House #2) and the Gardens which is apartment-style living.  The Residences were built in 2016, are all single occupancy (mainly due to COVID), and all rooms are fully furnished.  There’s an activities calendar residents can participate if they’d like or not participate at all.  These are for residents that typically require more care or attention.  The Gardens, on the other hand, is apartment-style living for those that are more independent—they can come and go as they please and some of them even still drive.  They are not furnished, and residents are asked to bring their own furniture.  The employees work with other nurses and doctors to monitor their conditions and conduct assessments if more care is needed.  Residents just pay rent at the Gardens (wi-fi and utilities are included), and do not pay an additional cost for the care.

It was nice to hear about options available right here in Crete for either short-term or long-term nursing care!  We appreciate Kelly, and Aubry Paulson, coming to speak to us about what’s happening with Tabitha!

Our next meeting is Wednesday, August 11th at the VFW. We will host our new Rotary District 5650 Governor Kathryn Schubert. Let's have a great turnout for Governor Schubert!
