Crete Rotary Club
Crete, Nebraska

Last Week: There were several items of club business discussed: the donation fund for former Rotary member Brad Elder continues until the end of January. You can make a donation to help pay medical expenses for Brad by giving a check to Jim Johnson.

We also got a reminder of the district’s fund in support of medical and humanitarian supplies for Ukrainians seeking shelter in Poland. The deadline for donations to this fund ends soon- December 13th. These donations can be made on-line at the district’s website.

Jenn Lampila offered to chair a committee for our club’s involvement in the district’s first ever Golden Wheel award. She will be seeking the help of a few club members to be on the committee. You can read all of the specifics of this project at the district website.

Lastly, we will hold our club Christmas Party this Wednesday at 6pm at Doane University. We’ve had a good number of members rsvp and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Our speakers for the meeting were Chris Shires and Caitlin Bolte of the company “Confluence” officed out of Omaha. The company has been hired to assist the city of Crete in updating the city’s 10 year Comprehensive Plan. This plan is described as “a plan designed to guide the future actions of a community. It presents a vision for the future, with long range goals and objectives for all activities that affect the local government”. The project is currently in “phase two” of a five phase process which includes collecting a great amount of input from Crete citizens and business leaders. During the presentation club members had a chance to answer survey questions in real-time on their smart phones. The project will come to a close sometime in late fall of 2023.
