Crete Rotary Club
Crete, Nebraska

Our first meeting of February included members in attendance signing up for two service projects coming up the week of February 20th. Those projects are the Elementary School Book Fair and the Scout Pancake Feed. Thanks to those that signed up both at the meeting and on subsequent emails. We were pleased to have Amy Hausman attend the meeting as the guest of Tom Sorensen. Amy works for the Crete News and is exploring the possibility of joining the club. She would be a great addition!

Marilyn Schacht was our speaker for the meeting. she is with Crete Public Schools as the McKinney Vento Liaison. She explained the basics of this federal law aimed at addressing school aged children who fall into one or more of the categories of "homelessness". With her help these kids find sources to help them with safe and stable living conditions and easy access to schooling.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday February 22 at the VFW. We will hear a report from our Foundation Chairperson, Julie Lacy. We will also hear from Gretchen Bren via zoom call. Gretchen is the district's lead person on Rotary's Polio Plus fundraising.

See you at the meeting and at our service projects that week!
