Crete Rotary Club
Crete, Nebraska

Another Saline County Fair is in the books! The weather was almost perfect and certainly cooler and less muddy than the last several years. This better weather had a lot to do with what appeared to be larger crowds than in previous years. Which in turn led to busier Rotary Club shifts at the figure 8 Races on Thursday and plastic and aluminum recycling early in the mornings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will have official recycling data for you at the meeting this Wednesday, but the numbers will definitely be up over previous years. Many thanks to all those members who helped out at the fair. And I'd also like to extend a special thanks to these "Friends of Crete Rotary"- Allan Zumpfe, who helped Tom Sorensen with ticket taking on Thursday, Vicki Sorensen along with Dan and Patti O'Brien, who helped with the first shift at the beer garden, and Pat Johnson, who helped with recycling all three mornings!

We meet this Wednesday for a regular meeting at the VFW at the usual time! We should have a couple of our scholarship winners in attendance as well as two administrators from Crete Tabitha. We will also cover several pieces of club business including plans for Rotary District 5650 Governor Kathryn Schubert's visit on August 9th. Be sure to attend both of these meetings!

We received formal approval from Rotary International for our Sixpence Grant request. So now, with Karen Drevo's guidance, we can meet with Sixpence to implement the grant project!

A photo recap of the fair and Rotary's involvement!
