The park equipment has been ordered! We have raised enough month through grants, the city, and within the community to get the equipment ordered! Thanks for all of your support in this project!
Last week, we heard from Jim Johnson who told us about his recent trip to Egypt! Last November, he and his wife, Pat went to Egypt and saw the Great Pyramid of Giza, several temples, and the sphinx. He was surprised at the size of the Giza Pyramid. It's 475 ft square, 450 feet high, used 1.2 million stones (each one weighing 2-4 tons!) Pyramids are built when rulers begin leading to be laid to rest when they pass away. It houses everything they live with. The first pyramid took 26 years to build! While there were no pictures taken that evening to include, Jim had many he took displayed throughout his presentation. There may be another time where club members are invited over to look at the pictures more closely, but there are no details yet on that. Thanks for sharing your recent visit, Jim!
Here are some notes for club business:
- Chris Wittstruck's ticket was drawn and the Queen of Spades was found! She received over $250 cumulative! Congratulations, Chris!
- The club has voted to go with the 72" basketball pole for our district grant. The application was submitted and we're waiting to hear if it's been approved.
- The June lunch social will be at Cristina's on June 18th from 12-1pm. We hope to see everyone there for some good food and fellowship!
- We need about $400 to make our goal on Polio donations before the end of the Rotary year (June 30th), and about $200 donated to the Annual Fund (Foundation). If you'd like to donate, please contact Jack Thompson on how to donate, or you can do so through the District website.
