Crete Rotary Club
Crete, NE
Last week we had our District Governor visit from Carol Horner, along with a special presentation for Jim Fahrnbruch's 50 year membership AND perfect attendance!  Also in attendance were several guests to celebrate: Jim's wife, Jane, along with their children: Casey, Dusty, and Faith.  Jim's sister, Ann joined us through zoom along with her husband John who has visited our club several times.  (Also special mention to member Cheryl Schnell who has joined us through zoom from Arizona during the winter).

Carol presented Jim with a certificate for his achievements but also a letter from RI President, Shekhar Mehta!  Jim went on to share the secret to his perfect attendance: makeup meetings. A few of the locations he was able to attend were of course in the surrounding area (Wilber, Friend, Seward, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs), but also Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Georgia, Minnesota, California, Arizona, Hawaii, on a Holland America Cruise Line, and Seattle, WA.  Thank you, Jim for your dedication and service to Rotary for 50 years!  Thank you, Carol and all of our guests, for celebrating Jim and his membership.

Carol shared about some things the district and our club are doing well: as a district, we have the highest net growth at 1.47%, and the highest percent of members under 40 at 11%!  As a club, we are about 25% of members under 40 and almost half of our club is women!  She also shared how inspiring it is to be part of such a global organization all working together for one common goal: service above self and, our theme this year, serve to change lives.

Last but not, least, thank you to our members for helping make last week a success: Mary for the name tags, Shay and Chris for the delicious meal, and Jane F for the delicious cake!
