Last week, we heard from our District Governor, Gretchen Bren. She shared that change makes communities better through a project from our club or relationships built, but impact endures long afterwards. Rotary has not only changed her life, but it's had a lasting impact which reaches far beyond the initial expectation. She highlighted our own past projects--not only how they've changed the community, but the impact they have made from our efforts. She challenged our club to the future. Past the projects already done, but what can our club be doing so our impact remains in the next 10 or 100 years.
Afterwards, a few members took her and her husband, Gary to our most recent project: Rotary park. We were fortunate enough to come during a time the playground was being used by a family, and another family eating at one of the picnic tables. Members shared the care put into the details of making the playground and court as safe as possible for children and families. She even climbed up the ladder and went down the slide to celebrate our hard work! Thank you, Gretchen, for visiting our club and inspiring our members to create a lasting impact in our community.

We have some exciting projects coming up to save the date for:
Sept. 23rd--Rotary Work Project: come down to the new basketball court at 5pm (or whenever you get there) to Rotary Park ready to help spread dirt around the court. Please bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty, garden equipment that will allow you to spread dirt, and gardening gloves.
Saturdays in October: Depending on when the grocery grab tickets are here, members can sign up to sell outside of Foodmart from 9am-12pm all Saturdays in October.
Oct. 14th: Highway clean up: Meet outside CAMC at 5pm (or whenever you get there) to clean up the highway!
Oct. 28th: Grocery Grab drawing at 7am at 9th St. Be thinking of noteable members in Crete who can draw. From 5pm-7pm that same evening, there will be a park dedication! We're partnering with the chamber to do a business afterhours. Invite everyone you know to attend--business members, community members, coaches that use the park fields, families that use the park, etc.
Nov. 7th: The Grocery Grab!: Meet at 7:45am at Foodmart to watch our winner go on a shopping spree!
