Last week's meeting included a visit from City of Crete Building Inspector Brad Bailey, who talked about how he works with residents, businesses, and developers on projects within the city to adhere to local building codes and zoning regulations. Brad has an extensive construction background and enjoys his position with the city where he can advocate for building owners to make sure projects are completed properly and are up to code. He also shared the progress of a study and pending new flood plain map which has the potential to remove the majority of properties in town out of the flood plain.
Club members also held a brief discussion on implementing a business/corporate membership program to attract representation from Crete's larger industries. We will continue this discussion.
This week's regular meeting will be on Wednesday, Oct. 23 with Tom Ourada, City Administrator, as the guest speaker.
The week of Oct. 28-Nov. 1 there will be no regular meeting, however, club members are encouraged to volunteer for a morning shift or shifts at the check-in desk for Crete Area Medical Center's health fair.
