Diane Bruha, Special Programs Director with Crete Public Schools, came to speak about all of the programs they provide. The programs include: Adult Education: ELL, Basic skills like reading, writing, and math, GED prep, and citizenship classes. Migrant Education: geared towards the families that travel to different communities following agricultural vocational opportunities, classes and education are provided for them and their families so they can get an education while they are here. Special Education: there is education and a program from birth to 21 years of age. From birth-3 years, they work with the families to learn how to enhance the child's education early on. Ages 3-18, they work with children with learning disabilities in the school system, or alternative locations with more specialized training. Adults 18-21 work with the community doing academic and job training to teach them basic skills.
If you're a business and would like to have the adult learners come to your business and do basic tasks and skills (with a coordinator of course), please let Diane Bruha know. They are always looking for opportunities! (Program story and photos courtesy of Janelle)
