Last Wednesday evening the Crete Rotary Club held its annual Christmas party at the Doane Perry Campus Center. It was great fun and so wonderful to have such a big group attend! Thank you to the organizing/decorating committee of Jenn Lampila, Karen Drevo, Janelle Snodgrass and Chris Wittstruck. The room was decorated in a very festive style and the food was excellent! A special thanks to Cody Vance for the heartfelt meal blessing and to Jenn Lampila for entertaining us with Crete and Nebraska specific Christmas trivia. Also, a thank you to Edward Jones via Chris Wittstruck and Vicki Sorensen for use of their beautiful table decorations. And finally, a thank you to Jane and Jim Fahrnbruch and family for providing sheet music for the singing of many Christmas classics!
On a more somber note, we learned of the passing of long-time schoolteacher and Crete Rotary supporter Ann Howard (March 23, 1946 - December 19, 2023) Ann and her husband Ed had two children, Mary and Christopher. Mary Howard was working as a Regional Grants officer for the Rotary International Foundation when she suddenly passed away on March 20, 2014, at the age of 30. Ann and Ed have supported and been friends to our club for many years. Our condolences go out to the entire family.

Our next meeting will be at the VFW at the usual time on January 10th.
