Last meeting, President Elect, Chris Neukirch brought a cookie cake to celebrate World Rotary Day (2/23).  February is the month when the first meeting took place, and 2/23 is now World Rotary Day!

She has also given us a challenge for March which is also an important month for Rotary!  It's WASH month (Water, Sanitization, and Hygiene)  She's challenging our club to collect 121 items promoting sanitation and hygiene (to commemorate Rotary being active for 121 years) for us to donate to Sixpence.  Please bring them to the meetings in March!

Our program came from Josh Johnson to tell us about Generative AI.  He works at LES in Regulatory Compliance, but AI is something he's researched and learned about as a hobby!  He shared the history of AI and how it's evolved throughout the decades.  He also shared a basic formula to help maximize our use of AI when we ask it for a prompt.  When asking a program like Chat GPT or copilot for some help, here are the elements your ask should include to get the best response:
  • Task Description: what is AI doing?  What do you want it to find?
  • Role: what is AI's role in your request?
  • Boundaries: what rules does AI need to follow?  What should it include or not include?
  • Context: what context should AI be aware of?
  • Specific Requirements: what does the output need to have?
  • Reasoning: how did AI get to the answer?  Do you want it to provide the links where it got that information?
The presentation was very interesting, generated some discussion, and very relevant right now.  Thanks for coming to speak to our club, Josh!

Please mark your calendars for our highway cleanup scheduled for April 29th at 5pm.  A sign up sheet will be going around in advance.
