Last week we heard from Gwyneth Talley, a Crete native who owns her own travel company going to Egypt and Morocco!  She'd like to expand tours to India, Turkey, Jordan, and Oman, eventually, but she's quite accomplished already!  Here's some of them:
  • Crete, Nebraska Native

  • National Geographic Early Career Grantee, 2014

  • National Geographic Expert for Morocco and Egypt

  • PhD in Anthropology from UCLA, 2019

  • Assistant Professor of Anthropology at American University in Cairo

  • Socio-cultural Anthropologist, Educator, Documentary Filmmaker

  • Entrepreneur, Travel Writer, Pickleball player

  • Founder/CEO of WanderinGwyneth Adventures

She was working as a tour guide in 2024, and she was asked to consider putting together her own tours.  She thought about it, took the leap, and now owns her own tour company--WanderinGwyneth Adventures since 2025.  She's learned a lot of lessons, but it's clear that being involved in others becoming passionate about travel and seeing the places she's fallen in love with is all worth it.  Thank you for sharing your passion with us, Gwyneth!

This week we're gearing up for fair events!  It's one of the ways Crete Rotary gives back every year, so please look at your calendars to help if you can.  We will be helping in the beer garden from 6-8 -and 8-9:45, and doing recycling July 17, 18, and 19 at 6:30am.  Please help when you can!

The week after, we're helping with Project Protein!!!  In lieu of the meeting on July 22nd, we'll be meeting at the NE corner of the high school parking lot to help prep delivery of Project Protein.  DO NOT come to Doane...no one will be there for a meeting.  :)  You can also help the day after July 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm and Sunday the 26th from 12:30-2:30.  We hope to see everyone there!!
