Last week we got to hear from our District Governor, Robert Rapp. He has ties to Doane and the Crete Rotary Club! He received his undergraduate degree from Doane University in Business/Finance. He was also an Ambassadorial Scholar to the University of Edinburgh Law School, in Edinburgh Scotland in 1988-1989. Former Crete Rotary member and Doan professor, Dr. Gleeson invited him to speak to the Crete Rotary club about his experience which gave him an introduction to Rotary. He eventually became a Rotarian in 1994 after his service as an Ambassador Scholar. He currently lives and works in Omaha, and is a member of the Omaha Morning Rotary club.
His focus this year as District Governor is:
- Club Strategic Planning, Building stronger Rotary clubs
- Membership Retention and Growth, Rotary Club Innovation
- Community and International Projects, Rotary International Foundation Giving, Peace and Conflict Resolution
Thank you for visiting our club, Robert!
For club business:
- We are still looking for club members to ask businesses to confirm Grocery Grab sponsors. Please ask if you have asked a business before as the tickets need to be printed very soon.
- Members will be selling Grocery Grab tickets outside of Crete Foodmart on the Saturdays in October from 9am-12pm (provided the tickets are ready). Please contact Janelle if you'd like to help, or just show up! The more the merrier!
- We need volunteers for the Pumpkin Festival on Sunday October 5th from 11:30-2:30 or 2:30-5. This is an event we really need all hands on deck for since we are so busy with ticket sales. Please look at your calendars and let Janelle know if you can help.
